Abstract

Secruidaca longipeduriculata Fresn. (Polygalacaeae) "lpeta“, is commonly used by the Yoruba for treating various skin diseases as well as an anticonvulsant. Phytochemical examination of the plant indicates the presence of saponins and tannins. An attempt has been made to isolate the saponins in the leaves and relate them to their traditional use.
