Abstract

Antioxidants are intimately involved in the prevention of cellular damage. They protect the body against free radicals that cause pathological conditions such as cancer, ageing, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and neurodegenerative diseases such as
Alzheimer's disease. Athletics, in particular, have a keen interest in antioxidants because of the health concerns, the prospcct of enhanced performance and recovery from exercise.
